Extending the validity of the residence permit
The validity of the residence permit may be extended on the basis of a written application of a foreign national, filed by him to the territorial authority of the IPU at the place of issuing a residence permit or at the residence of a foreign national.

Documents for the extension of residence permits in Ukraine
- a properly completed application for an extension of the residence permit;
- Passport of a foreign national issued in his country;
- Officially certified translation of the document confirming identity in the state language of Ukraine and certified notarized;
- The original residence permit, which requires continuation;
- Four standard-size photos taken no later than 2 weeks before documentation is completed.

What does it take to renew your residence permit in Ukraine?
To issue, obtain or prepare a document according to which a foreigner can be in our country – a marriage certificate, discharge from the place of study or work. Personally submit a written application to the migration service. Expect a data verification period (fifteen days from the date of application). Take away the extended residence permit (personally).

The validity of the residence permit for a certain category of foreigners is:
- If issued on the basis of a work permit is the expiration date of such a permit;
- Founders or members of legal entities registered in Ukraine – two years;
- Students – for the duration of their studies; in other cases, one year.
How many times can you renew your residence permit in Ukraine
Temporary residence permits may be extended an unlimited number of times, but if there are appropriate grounds. There are cases when a foreigner is denied an extension of the temporary form due to incorrectly completed documents, error or filing of false personal data. This can be fixed and can be done as soon as possible. But there are also regulated reasons why a foreign national in principle does not have a legal right to renew a residence permit.
Reasons why you can get a waiver
- Administrative, criminal responsibility for the period of stay in Ukraine;
- Recognizing a person as a danger to the national security of the country;
- The non-conformity of the passport document to the established sample;
- Filing false information or forged documents
- when the documents were changed, the foreigner was under investigation or responsibility in his home country.
It is important to remember that it is only possible to apply for a species within ten calendar days before the expiry of the previous document, if the application after this period is due, the application should be refused.
